There are lots of services available which help promote the wellbeing of older people and help to make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. The following are services available in Stevenage which you can access.

Age UK Hertfordshire exist to promote the wellbeing of older people and to help make later life in Hertfordshire a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. Support available includes, Active Ageing, Befriending Service, Dementia Support, Hospital and Community Navigation, Nutrition and Dietetics, help in the home and information and advice. Herts Help can refer you to a range of services to support you to manage at home. These include a free Safe and Well visit in partnership with Herts Fire Service, information and referral to Herts Warmer Homes Programme, support to access falls prevention advice, support to access suitable equipment, Meals on Wheels and other services available. HertsHelp Community Navigators can visit you at home and help you find the support you need together. Their community based service operates across the whole county. The service helps people to identify and access community support that will help people to maintain their independence, health and wellbeing. Ask your social care or health professional to refer you. Herts Help can give you the advice and support you need to work out the best way to pay for care. There are lots of things they can talk to you about including:

Age Concern Stevenage offer a wide range of free and confidential Information available for the over 50’s. A small independent local charity specifically for Stevenage people and surrounding villages. Visit their website here.
They hold a Benefits Advice surgery (restarting on 8 July 2021 and monthly thereafter) and a bi-weekly Footcare health clinic. Contact them on 01438 365 248 or email ageconcernstevenage@yahoo.com for an appointment. They run the Stevenage Shopmobility service so they have mobility scooters and wheelchairs for hire, both for use around the town or to take away for longer holiday periods.
